EU FOODPACT Officially Launches in Reus, Spain

May 2026

EU FOODPACT partners gathered in Reus

The EU FOODPACT project officially began its journey with the first Transnational Project Meeting (TPM), held in Reus, Spain, on 13–14 May 2026. Hosted by the Reus Chamber of Commerce and EDENSOL, the meeting brought together partners from across Europe for two days of collaboration, strategic discussions, and shared vision-building around the future of sustainable food systems.

EU FOODPACT was created in response to one of Europe’s growing challenges: helping small and micro-enterprises in the agri-food sector adapt to the green and digital transition. While European policies increasingly promote sustainability, innovation, and environmental responsibility, many businesses across the food supply chain still face barriers related to skills, guidance, resources, and access to tailored support. The project aims to bridge this gap by creating practical tools, training opportunities, and collaborative support ecosystems for MSMEs operating in the agri-food sector.

During the meeting in Reus, partners explored the project’s long-term vision and discussed how EU FOODPACT will support businesses, workers, educators, and policy actors over the next three years. Particular attention was given to the development of the project’s analytical and mapping activities, which will help identify the real needs, challenges, and sustainability readiness of agri-food stakeholders across participating countries.

An important part of the discussions focused on the future “Community Food Education Hubs”, one of the project’s central concepts. These hubs aim to create collaborative local ecosystems where businesses, chambers, educational providers, certification bodies, and sustainability organisations can work together, exchange expertise, and support continuous learning and transformation in the food sector.

Beyond the technical discussions, the TPM also highlighted the strong collaborative spirit of the consortium. Networking activities, informal discussions, and shared cultural experiences gave partners the opportunity to strengthen relationships and establish the foundations for effective cooperation throughout the project. The social aspect of the meeting played an important role in building trust, exchanging perspectives, and reinforcing the shared commitment behind EU FOODPACT’s mission.

The partnership brings together organisations with expertise in sustainability, adult education, business support, innovation, communication, and policy development. Through this multidisciplinary collaboration, EU FOODPACT aims to contribute to a more resilient, skilled, and future-ready European food system.

The meeting concluded with a shared sense of motivation and a clear roadmap for the next steps of the project. Over the coming months, EU FOODPACT will begin implementing its first activities, engaging stakeholders, and developing tools and methodologies that support sustainable transformation across the agri-food sector.

Stay tuned for more updates as the EU FOODPACT journey continues.
